Top 5 Holiday Light Display Attractions in Seattle

December 01, 2020

McNamara Signs has been a part of the Seattle community since 1995. Over the decades, we’ve provided local businesses and organizations with high-quality signs, banners, and graphics.

We would like to take this opportunity to share with you our top five holiday attractions in the Seattle area—with a small twist.

Considering that we’re still deep in the pandemic, we’re going to modify this list a tiny bit and only showcase homes and events that have holiday light displays and will allow you and your family to view them from the safety and comfort of your vehicle.

Christmas In Redmond

Christmas in Redmond is now in its 7th year. Located on the Eastside, it features an entire house decked out in RGB LED lights that are synchronized to music. What makes this display stand out is that you can tune in to channel 103.1 on your FM car radio to hear the music.

The entire show lasts around 20 minutes, and while it may not seem like much considering it’s only one house, it is still a sight to behold. Some of the neighboring houses will also have holiday lights up as well. Grab a cup of coffee or hot chocolate and load up the little ones into the family car for a fun night of holiday cheer!

Keener’s Christmas

Every year, Jeff and Candice Keener decorate their Bothell home with over 100,000 lights every holiday. It’s one of the longest-running and most popular light displays in the area. Locally referred to as Keener’s Christmas, it encompasses a full acre of land and is truly a sight to behold.

There are several distinct holiday-themed areas such as Blowup Land, Snowman Land, Santa Land, and a few new ones for 2020. Tune in your car radio to 91.9 on your FM dial to hear a wide selection of favorite holiday songs.

What makes this display so special is that it helps raise money for HopeLink of Kirkland and childhood cancer research through the donation box in front. You can also donate canned food that will be distributed to local underprivileged families.

Pennlights Dancing Light Show

In 2007, homeowner Dan Penn and his next-door neighbor decided to go above and beyond with their Christmas light displays and create the first-ever Pennlights Dancing Light Show. Much like the famous “dueling pianos,” the lighting displays and audio for each house as synched up to create an amazing holiday light show.

Turn your FM car radio dial to 103.1 to hear the audio that consists of holiday mashups, dubstep, and sped-up holiday songs. The house is located at the end of a cul-de-sac, so be sure to get there early as traffic tends to back up quickly. Weekdays are probably the best time to visit since the entire street is packed on the weekends.

What: Pennlights Dancing Light Show
Where: 21726 (and 21725) NE 136th Pl Woodinville, WA 98077
When: Sunday - Thursday: 5:00–10:00 pm. Friday & Saturday: 5:00-Midnight.

Fantasy Lights at Spanaway Park

The Fantasy Lights show at Spanaway Park holds the title of being the biggest drive-through holiday display of lights in the Pacific Northwest. It’s already “COVID-ready,” considering that you stay inside your car the entire time as you slowly drive down the two-mile Spanaway Lakefront.

Your kids will enjoy Rudolph, Santa, bears flying kites, snow boys kicking field goals, penguins sliding down an igloo, and much more! The display features RGD LED lighting, which provides impressive colors compared to the old school Christmas lights of the past.

Tune your car radio to AM 1700 to hear a selection of holiday-themed songs as you and your family take in the winter wonderland that is the Fantasy Lights at Spanaway Park!

What: Fantasy Lights at Spanaway Park
Where: 14905 Bresemann Blvd. South Spanaway, WA 98387
When: Nov. 21, 2020, through Jan. 3, 2021, 5:30–9 pm

The Lights of Christmas

Last, but most certainly not least on our list is the Lights of Christmas. It features extravagant and dazzling light displays that can be viewed from inside your car as you drive along—including Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus, who will wave to your children at the very end.

Unlike the other events on this list, this one has a $20 to $25 admission fee—and a limited capacity, so be sure to make reservations early. Advanced online admission purchase is required, so have your tickets before you show up! The event this year has some special COVID modifications, so be sure to check out their FAQ page for more info.
