Summer 2021 Family Fun Events Around Seattle

June 01, 2021

It’s almost summer in the Puget Sound, and that means family vacations and fun times are just around the corner. As the COVID restrictions start to get lifted, many Seattle families are looking forward to getting out of the house and enjoying the great weather.

In anticipation of the Governor lifting the restrictions on June 30th, we here at McNamara Signs would like to celebrate by providing you with the 411 on five family-friendly events that you can still attend during the summer of 2021.

There’s no better time to break out the sunscreen, bust out the flip flops, and celebrate the return back to the way things were.

Seattle Aquarium Beach Naturalist

The Beach Naturalist program from the Seattle Aquarium offers kids and adults the chance to see the diverse ecosystem in the local tide pools. An experienced guide from the Seattle Aquarium will take your group on tour and provide an informative and educational experience.

The cost is free, and there are several local beaches and State Parks where the tours take place. Check out the Seattle Aquarium website for more details on times, dates, and locations.

Dozer Day Seattle

Are your kids fascinated by heavy construction machinery? Dozer Day in Seattle will allow them to get up close and personal with heavy construction, industrial equipment, and first responder vehicles—safely, of course.

While little Timmy probably won’t be given the opportunity to drive a 100-ton Caterpillar bulldozer, he can climb up on them and participate in a guided interactive experience. The entire area will replicate the look and feel of a real-life construction zone.

Each attendee will be given a complimentary Construction “Crew Bag” with a Dozer Day cloth mask, local deals, branded merchandise, and a child-sized hard hat! This is the perfect way to encourage your child to pursue their passion for building and construction.

What: Dozer Day Seattle

When: Saturday, June 26th from 10 am to 3 pm, and Sunday, June 27th from 10 am to 3 pm.

Imagine Children’s Museum

The Imagine Children’s Museum will reopen its doors on June 2nd, 2021. It’s a great way to spend an entire day learning, discovering, and playing in three levels of interactive outdoor and indoor exhibits. The experience is designed explicitly for hands-on learning and exploration.

Be sure to check out the famous rooftop playground that features slides, ladders, and a wide variety of activities for your kids to run around, climb on, and enjoy. Reservations are required, so check out the website for more information! The Imagine Children’s Museum is specifically designed for children ages 1-12.

Simpson Railroad

Washington State has a rich history of logging and railroads. For over 100 years, the Simpson Timber Railroad moved logs in and out of the Olympic Peninsula.

The company shut down in 2015, and local preservationists got together to preserve the cars, trains, and last remaining 10 miles of the historic Simpson Timber Railroad.

The Simpson Railroad is a museum dedicated to the trains of yesteryear. It’s also a charity run by some very dedicated volunteers who work tirelessly to restore and maintain these historic trains and cabooses.
