Happy Memorial Day

May 24, 2017

All of us here at McNamara Signs recognize the sacrifice that the men and women of our military, past and present, have made. With Memorial Day coming up this weekend, we want to take some time to recognize and appreciate all of those that selflessly gave their life to help protect our nation.

Not only can you have special signs made to honor fallen heroes, but there are plenty of ways that you can recognize those that served. Here is a short list of ways to honor our servicemen and women.

  1. The Department of Veteran Affairs

Reach out and support your local veterans by checking out the Department of Veterans Affairs and find a VA hospital, cemetery, or community center in your area.

  1. Make A Tribute Video

Know someone that has served? Create a touching tribute video to show that you are thinking of them this holiday.

  1. Memorial Day Charity Runs

There are plenty of charity runs that honor our fallen heroes. Whether your run in a loved one’s memory or simply to support others, a charity run is a great way to get involved.

  1. Homes for Our Troops

Finding housing can be difficult and expensive even for those that haven’t been seriously injured in battle. Hopes for Our Troops helps to build homes for those that were wounded at war at no cost to the veteran.

  1. Wounded Warrior Project

It is easy to forget that servicemen and women have a whole new battle to face upon returning to civilian life. The WWP’s motto — “the greatest casualty is being forgotten” —rings true on Memorial Day. The organization aids seriously wounded veterans through mental, physical and community-based programs, providing therapy and a connection to the community the vet has come home to.

We are so grateful to those that have served for our freedom. If you have any other ideas of reaching out to our veterans, or have any signage needs for the upcoming holiday, please let us know. We would love to help and get involved. Happy Memorial Day!
